The 2024 vintage was humid with a temperate climate that favored vegetative development and production at Can Sumoi. A wet fall helped to recover from the drought of 2023. Winter was dry, followed by an exceptionally rainy spring. These conditions These favored vegetative growth and production, although downy mildew caused a 5% loss in the crop.

Winemaking Notes: The grapes were harvested by hand, destemmed and underwent a soft treading before moving to stainless steel tanks for fermentation. 80% of the wine was aged in stainless steel tanks for 9 months while the remaining 20% was aged in chestnut barrels for 9 months.

The use of wood provides micro-oxygenation, tannins and tertiary aromas. Thus, they decided to vinify a part of the Sumoll with wood to refine its tannins. Moreover, being a reductive variety, natural micro- oxygenation helps it to have a better aromatic complexity and maintain fresh aromas.

Chestnut is the wood traditionally used in Catalonia and does not provide such marked aromas as oak, being more respectful with the plot of origin. The barrels are 500 liters, to avoid an excess of micro-oxygenation and that the contribution of tannins is soft.
