Nortico 2025 Alvarinho, Vinho Regional Minho Login In Stock

Ask anyone where Portugal's finest Alvarinho is grown, and they'll point to the northernmost subregion of Monção and Melgaço, nestled along the Spanish border. Sheltered by a semicircle of hills, this unique pocket of the Vinho Verde region is protected from the full force of the Atlantic, creating a distinctive microclimate of cool, rainy winters and warm, dry summers. During the growing season, warm days and cool nights allow the grapes to develop vibrant aromatics while preserving the bright, refreshing acidity that defines great Alvarinho.

Nortico is sourced from more than 100 tiny vineyard plots, known locally as jardins ("gardens"), situated along the southern bank of the Minho River. The vineyards are rooted in granite and schist soils, including the region's distinctive seixo rolado—rounded river stones formed through centuries of erosion that provide exceptional drainage while absorbing and radiating heat to aid ripening. The result is a wine that captures the freshness, minerality, and expressive fruit.

The Nortico label celebrates one of Portugal's most enduring artistic traditions: azulejos, the hand-painted ceramic tiles that adorn churches, homes, shops, hospitals, and public buildings throughout the country. Both decorative and functional, these iconic tiles have served for centuries as a form of storytelling and visual identity. Inspired by this rich heritage, the Nortico label reflects the timeless craftsmanship and unmistakable aesthetic of Portugal.
